Jerusalem is the Capital City of Arab Culture of the year 2009. But since it is under Israeli occupation, the Israeli authorities prohibited launching the proposed programs and functions.In solidarity with Jerusalem and in support of its right to organize all artistic and cultural events as Capital City of Arab Culture, Bahraini artists sent a symbolic message of greetings and appreciation to the city of Jerusalem and to the Palestinian people by realizing a number of artistic works on Al Budaiya beach, north-west of Bahrain, which is considered the nearest point and the shortest distance between the Island of Bahrain and the occupied Palestinian territory.
